TATA NANO AMIRICAN CARS

A deluxe version of India’s new "people’s car” may come to America with a chump-change $7,000 price. Add in urban-jungle agility, high mpg, and surprising space, and this cute puppy could spell trouble for other U.S.-market minicars.

What We Know About the 2012 Tata Nano America

It’s being called a 21st-century Model T, a masterpiece of cost-effective engineeering, a new “people’s car” that will change the global auto industry and millions of lives. It’s the Tata Nano, revealed in early 2007 and finally available in its native India at a starting price of just $2,500.

Ratan Tata, CEO of the Tata Group combine, was determined to build a genuine four-passenger car that would be priced only a bit higher--and be much safer--than the small motorcycles most Indian families use to tote three and four people at a time. The result is a tall, egg-shaped 4-door with about the same footprint as the original 1960s British Mini, minimal equipment, and a rear-mounted 2-cylinder engine making 35 horsepower from 624 cubic centimeters. Top speed is barely 65 mph, the comfortable cruising pace only 55 mph.

The India-market Nano may be too Spartan for First World countries, but it’s just right for the millions of Third World consumers who crave a car but could never afford one before. As Ravi Kant, the head of the Tata Motors division, recently told The Economist magazine: “Through the explosive growth of cellphones and television, the aspirations of rural people are converging with [those of] urban people...The interest in the Nano is worldwide.”

* All Subcompact Car Prices & Reviews

So perhaps it was no surprise that Tata presented a deluxe version at the March 2009 Geneva Auto Show even before home-market deliveries were underway. Though this Nano Europa was billed merely as “for future launch” in developed countries, Mr. Tata later said that the Europa would likely start sale on the Continent in 2010 or 2011. Since then, one source has reported that Italy, Spain, Poland and the UK will be the initial markets. More important for U.S. consumers, Mr. Tata says his team is looking into a U.S. edition, what we call the 2012 Tata Nano “America.” It would take on the Smart ForTwo, the Korean-built 2011 Chevrolet Spark, a likely Toyota or Scion iQ and a possible 2011 Ford Ka in what’s shaping up as a whole new market class.

In case you’re wondering, Tata Motors is the company that paid $2.6 billion in 2007 to acquire British luxury-vehicle maker Jaguar Land Rover from Ford. Though JLR is something of a financial drain on Tata in the worsening worldwide recession, it does provide a wealth of global marketing know-how that should pay dividends in bringing “the world’s cheapest car” to rich-world buyers.

At a minimum, the 2012 Tata Nano America will share all the Europa’s upgrades over India-market models. The main one is a larger 3-cylinder engine, another all-aluminum unit with multipoint fuel injection, very low claimed CO2 emissions, and likely overall fuel economy above 50 miles per gallon. Tata is so far mum on displacement or outputs, but a look at comparable Japanese and Korean minicars suggests a 1.0-liter powerplant with around 65 horsepower and that many pound-feet of torque. Tata does confirm a 5-speed automatic transmission will replace the basic Nano’s 4-speed manual. Though the company won’t say more about that point either, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a low-cost automated-manual or a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) instead of a conventional torque-converter automatic, which would cost too much and sap too much power. All Nanos carry the powertrain on a separate rear sub-frame, an unexpected plus for refinement. That includes the radiator, which receives cooling air from a vertical bodyside scoop ahead of each rear wheel.

Like the Europa, the 2012 Tata Nano America is some 7.5 inches longer than the basic model, reflecting a 2-inch-longer wheelbase and larger, restyled bumpers that are presumably strengthened for Western crash tests. The Geneva display cars indicate the America/Europa will also get higher-quality interior trim--including ersatz chrome accents and available leather upholstery--plus a rear wiper and washer, sound-deadening material, and at least four airbags, all absent from basic Nanos. Antilock brakes and a stability system with traction control are promised too, and could be standard on top-trim models. The same applies to air conditioning, front power windows, power door locks, and foglights. Finally, the premium Nano exchanges flat-face headlamp units for a more-stylish “three-hole” design.

Of course, all these changes won’t come for free. Indeed, several sources predict the 2012 Tato Nano America (Europa, too) will cost over twice as much as its no-frills parent. Still, the rumored base figure is only some $7,000, which should be more than class-competitive in the States and thus very attractive to budget-minded shoppers.

2011 Bogus Online Japanese Car Dealers

As we care about our customers, we would like to warn you about fake Japanese used car exporters on the Internet.  According to a news article published in East Africa News, many bogus online Japanese car exporters are swindling car buyers by luring them into buying used cars at unbelievably low prices, by making false claims that they are trying to get rid of their stock due to bankruptcy caused by the financial crisis.
Many vehicle importers from East Africa have reportedly lost millions of dollars due to such scams by bogus Japanese used car exporters.  Many Tanzania based used car importers who have spent thousands of dollars ordering these cheap Japanese cars from these fake online dealers have lost their money in the end.  Most of the time, they would be dealing with phantom companies who just take their money and then disappear.  It turns out that there are even Japan based Tanzanians who are operating these bogus car dealer companies.

How such bogus Japanese car exporters scam people?

  1. It is not possible to contact the dealer once you send money to them.
  2. Weeks, even months go by without ever receiving the vehicle from the dealer.
  3. Even if the customer gets a vehicle, it is way different than what he paid for.

How to identify such bogus Japanese car exporters operating online?

You should look for the following signs which are common with most fake used car dealers online.
  1. You should avoid dealing with car exporters who have phone numbers that start with either 81-80 and 81-90, as they are cell phone numbers. You’ll have a hard time tracking down these dealers.
  2. Check out for their address from their website and make sure it is authentic.
  3. Also check for a certification from the Japan Used Motor Vehicle Exporter’s Association (JUMVEA) in order to verify authenticity.
Our foremost concern is our customers receiving the highest quality of service backed by honesty and integrity, and it concerns us when Japan gets such a negative connotation because of these scam artists.
Some of the infamous examples of bogus car exporters are ‘Car Zone Japan,” which has taken almost $100,000 from people without giving them the automobiles they bought.  Another scamming company known by the name of ‘Global Trading Co Ltd,’  ’41 Expo Inc.,’ ‘The Trading Club,’ and ‘Progress Ltd.’ – all of them claim to have gone bankrupt and so offering vehicles at low prices.

2011 Japan Quake Threatens Automobile Industry

The massive earthquake that occurred in the Miyagi prefecture of Japan on Match 11, has affected normal life in many parts of the northern Japan.  We were grateful to our customers who inquired about us well being. Osaka being far from the site of the earthquake, life is normal here.  However, Japan’s automotive sector was severely disrupted by the 9.0 magnitude earthquake followed by the tsunami that struck the country last Friday.
earthquake tsunami japanese cars
Currently, auto makers in Japan are constantly evaluating the destruction brought on by the earthquake and the tsunami that had ravaged the coastal regions along the Miyagi prefecture.  Their assessment has revealed that Japan’s car industry will be more deeply affected by these calamities than what was thought earlier.
Leading Japanese car makers like Honda Motor Co., Isuzu Motors Ltd., Hino Motors, Nissan Motor Co., and Toyota Motor Corp., have had to shut down their manufacturing plants in northern Japan after the earthquake disrupted the power supply.  Production is expected to be stopped till March 18 at most of the facilities in the affected areas.

Japan Quake Disrupts Auto Shipments

Nissan Motor announced that around 2,300 new vehicles had been swept away by the waves of the tsunami, two offices and four facilities were slightly damaged, and minor injuries were caused to employees at their Toguchi plant.  Nissan also reported it was still checking on its subsidiaries.
Fuji Heavy Industries, the parent company of Subaru, has shelved production at eight of its ten plants, including the five factories exclusively manufacturing vehicles.
The damage reported at several large automobile factories was minimal, but things were worse for a few suppliers.  In the areas most severely affected by the earthquake, subsidiary operations also took a big hit. Such plants handled the production and supply of transmissions, brakes, torque converters, wheels, and other components.  The transportation networks required for moving vehicles and auto parts were so badly affected that a quick recovery may not be possible.
Most Japanese car makers, particularly Toyota, are known for carrying out tight operations with just-in-time inventory systems where the different components and sub-assemblies are assembled into vehicles soon after arriving at the main plant.  Some of the smaller suppliers located in the more severely damaged areas could take several days or even weeks to get back to their full capacity.
Labor, fuel supplies, electrical supply, rail and highway transportation, shipping ports handling cars for export, and many such elements that are crucially important for the production and distribution of vehicles were all disrupted by  the earthquake and tsunami.  Most auto makers may keep their assembly plants shut till the supply chain recovers sufficiently to handle the demands of normal production and this won’t happen very soon.

Vending Machines to Charge Electric Cars in Japan 2011

We all know that soda and other beverages, and even candy can be sourced from a street-side vending machine.  But in Japan they even have vending machines offering hot beverages like tea and coffee in the winter.  And now, guess what Japanese vending machines will be doing next?  They’ll be helping the Japanese motorists to charge their electric cars as well!
Recently, there was an announcement by a consortium of companies from Japan that they had decided on installing a number of electric vehicle chargers at beverage vending machines across the country.  The consortium comprises telecom companies, electronics makers, and a vending machine manufacturer – Forking Co. – an organization that owns around half of the vending machines, over one million in all, across Japan.
japan vending machines
The reasons behind this interesting move include the setting up of additional recharging infrastructure in the country which was sadly lacking till now, and to bring about higher sales of electric cars.  According to Forking, eventually, the chargers will be incorporated into the vending machines themselves.
The innovative proposal of providing electric vehicle chargers at the ubiquitous street corner vending machines could also provide the solution to another problem.  It could help allay the fears and concerns in Japan about electric cars not being able to go a long enough distance on a charge.  To help relieve the apprehensions of consumers, Japan’s electric car manufacturers, Toyota and Nissan, had announced last year that they would be attempting to standardize the recharging stations across Japan, and would eventually create an international standard.  Electric cars usually have to depend on expensive batteries, but yet provide consumers with a disappointingly short driving range.  This is one of the main drawbacks of electric cars and the reason why they are still not very popular even though they are environment friendly vehicles.
Early this year, Mazda announced it was going to take a leap into the electric vehicle arena launching its own battery-operated vehicle in Japan by 2012.  Ford has announced its own lineup of electric car models in the US. President Obama has asked his countrymen to make the U.S. the first nation in the world to have one million electric vehicles on the road by the year 2015.  Till now however sales remain low.  As per Engadget’s announcement, only 67 Nissan Leafs and 281 Chevy Volts were sold in February in America, thus indicating brighter chances for Japan to lead the electric vehicle race.
During the first year of the project, scheduled to commence soon, the consortium plans to install 10,000 electric chargers at various vending machine sites across Japan.  So now electric vehicle  owners in the country can look forward to better recharging facilities.

MINI RELEASE ROAD VERSION REVEIWS

You’ve probably heard that Mini is preparing to get into the WRC ( World Rally Championship ). Along with this news, we have an even better rumor. The Mini WRC might also get into the production line, just like the Subaru Impreza WRXand Mitsubishi Evo X.
The Mini WRC is based on the Mini Countryman, which is a production crossover. Rumors also say that the Mini WRC is prepared to hit the showrooms, so we’ll probably take a look at it soon.
Hopefully the rumors are true and we’ll be able to get our hands on the nestMini WRC, which is a great car, I must say. Mini does have some models with more horse power and a bit sportive, but none of them can be compared with this one, so who’s both a Mini fan and loves power will definitely love this car.
Personally I’m really curious to see what they’re up to and would love to take a test drivewith it, because I’ve always had a passion for Minis. Rest assured that we’ll let you know once we find out more details about the new Mini WRC.

Heynsdyk 2500SF Pictures

Heynsdyk 2500SF Roadster

Once in a blue moon in the automotive industry an unique vehicle comes to play. Such vehicle is 2500SF roadster from Dutch Heynsdyk. The Dutch have always had a penchant for the bizarre and unorthodox. From their unique 'coffee shops', to their individualist sense of style the people of Holland have always liked to go their own way. And that applies to car design as well. Spyker supercars are from Holland, and whether you love them or hate them, they really are very different in style to any other vehicle on the road.

Cars Pictures "Heynsdyk 2500SF Roadster"

Heynsdyk 2500SF Roadster

A small independent builder in Eindhoven has given further weight to the argument by introducing this, the Heynsdyk 2500SF. Designed and engineered by Ronald Heijnsdijk, the car is based on the Porsche 944 platform and is essentially a kit car which can be ordered in component or fully finished form. However instead of being some sort of generic copy of another the vehicle, the 2500SF has a completely original style which is a mixture of hits and misses.

Heynsdyk 2500SF Roadster Cars Photos

Heynsdyk 2500SF Roadster

This is the Heynsdyk 2500SF from Holland: a bespoke body placed over the engine, electronics, and drivetrain of a Porsche 944. The design process took years to complete, but the decision to base the car on the 944 was made quickly. 100% galvanized, reliable and readily available. The substantially lighter body, in galvanized steel, takes weight down to 900 kilograms (1,980 pounds) while maintaining 50/50 weight distribution. There are six engine choices, from a basic 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 163 horsepower, to a 2.5-liter four-pot S-motor with a turbo. That one will get you 250 horsepower, and from 0 to 60 in six seconds. Top speed is limited to 250 kilometers per hour (155 miles per hour). The transmission is handled by a 5 speed manual which sends the power to the rear wheels.

Heynsdyk 2500SF Roadster

The front angle is by far and away the worst area of the vehicle aesthetically. Here a random and mismatched assortment of lights and grilles come together to form a unique but far from pretty face. In profile things start to get better, and the proportions of the car are generally quite pleasing. The car shows off its best side when viewed from the rear. The well thought out mix of nicely sculpted roll bars, beefed up wheel arches, neat taillights and sloping decklid come together very well indeed.

You can buy the car as a kit or a finished product, and prices start at €14,750 ($20,798 U.S.) for the kit, or €36,995 ($52,158 U.S.) for a ready runner. Like its countrymate Spyker, what the car might lack in beauty it makes up for in unique and arresting looks.

Car Auctions in the USA

A car auction is an exciting event that only happens at certain times of the year. There are many kinds of these vehicle auctions and they offer different advantages. Some allow a large savings in money. Others give you access to vehicles driven by famous celebrities or extremely rare and antique cars and trucks.

The government offers auctions monthly in almost every US state. These auctions have hundreds of vehicles to sell. The prices are much lower than what buyers would pay to vehicles owners and dealerships. These kinds of auctions from the government are the way to go for the average person looking to save money from the repossessed auto market.

For those looking to benefit from upscale vehicle auctions selling antique vehicles and those hidden by celebrity types these auctions are available too. You will be able to find cars from the 20th century that many times have been restored to their beautiful original state. In some instances they look even better. For most of us we will go to these kinds of auctions to observe. For those having larger wallets you'll be able to add some retro cars and trucks to your auto lots.

There are different methods of bidding at car auctions in the USA. Some are done in person while others are done over the Internet. You generally are responsible for the transporting the vehicle to the place you want it delivered. If attending an auction you generally can have it moved to it's permanent location for no extra cost.

Car Reviews New

Car hire reviews are essential in helping travelers choose the best deal, especially if you are planning to plan and book your reservation online. Aside from looking for the current rates, the type of vehicles being offered, and current promotions and discounts, looking for reviews, feedbacks, and recommendations pertaining to a specific company can make or break the trip that we are planning for. The car rental business is very competitive, thus companies would tend to publish attractive rates and discounts. Sometimes, the only thing that would differentiate one company from another is their respective track record and feedback from previous renters.
Most of the time, car hire reviews are not available on the company website. When you go to a car rental website, you will only see the current rates, the vehicles currently being offered, and ongoing promotions and deals. Rarely, would you see testimonials or company reviews on the company’s website. If you are not going to look for reviews and feedback, you might get confused because the rates are usually similar. In addition, the products and services being offered by the companies are almost the same and you would have a hard time figuring out which one offers the best deal.
Car hire reviews are usually available on personal blogs and forums dedicated to finding the best car hire service, and other social networking sites. By going to personal blogs, you will be able to view personal accounts and stories of fellow renters and you will be able to get an idea as to whether a specific company is offering the best price for the quality of service they provide. Forums also allow you to view personal reactions, reviews or feedback for a specific company, which are not biased and do not aim to promote or destroy the reputation of the company.

New and Nice Cars

You can get the best price for your used car only when a new care of the same model is being sold at the highest price. If a manufacturer gives discounted prices for a new car of the same model, you can’t sell your car at the best price. In other words, the best time to sell your used car is when the prices for the model you have are at the highest. Hence the important factor that affects the price of a used car is the price of a new car of that model you own. So it is better to wait until the price of a new car of your model goes up rather than selling it when the manufacturer gives discounts for a new car of your model.
Preparing your car for selling it is a must. You have to consider what the potential buyer thinks of your car. So you have to maintain the interior and the exteriors of your car properly. If your car is not clean inside and out, the potential buyer may not think positively about your car. This simple issue might make you lose a possible deal. Therefore proper maintenance of your car is essential to fetch a good price for your used car. Some people might overlook some serious problems in the car if the car looks shiny and glowing. Touch up scratches on the exterior and interior. Make up the small dents in it. Balance the tires properly. Clean inside and out. This might fetch you a profitable deal.

1963 Plymouth Valiant: The Prince Of Cars

http://hotrodhotline.com/feature/2004show/04clay/assets/images/db_images/db_Ann_Webb__1964_Plymouth_Valiant.jpg

Have you heard about the Prince of Cars? Aha, it’s the Plymouth Valiant! This awesome ride is among the most admired sedans in the United States for almost two decades. It was initially launched as a 1960 model - the period when Detroit was reviving the small car segment. The Valiant received various efficient slant-six engines and striking stylings. Oh yeah, the Valiant is absolutely a sweet little ride that offers not just clean floor mats, but the best overall convenience, styling and performance.
The Valiant endured four generations, whipping famous alternates such as the Barracuda and the Duster and soon it was substituted in 1976 by the Plymouth Volare. The Valiant was also a big hit in foreign countries. Plymouth was actually a component of Chrysler during the early 60s. And here’s another trivia for all of you - the Plymouth Valiant starred in various Hollywood films! Yes it’s a fact! Check out the films below that featured the Prince of Cars:
    * Carry On Again Doctor (1967 Barracuda)
    * Duel (1970 Valiant)
    * Vanishing Point (1970 Dodge Challenger R/T)

Michelin tyres to cut 20m tonnes of CO2

Overlook hybrids and stop-start systems, new designed tyres could save up to 20 million tonnes of CO2 in the next five years, claims the world’s largest tyre maker.

Michelin reckons it will sell 100 million of its new Energy Saver tyre by 2012. A set four tyres cuts a car’s CO2 output by 4g/km. The figure could be even higher if buyers of replacement tyres choose low-rolling resistance rubber.

Tyres account for up to 20 per cent of the energy consumption of a vehicle, through heat losses as the tyre deforms under load, commonly called rolling resistance.

The Energy Saver, which was developed with Peugeot for the new 308, uses a new material that combines low rolling resistance qualities with what Michelin claims are grip and wear qualities comparable to regular tyres.

The design is also lighter than the tyre it replaces, cutting mass and consequently reducing heat build up. Michelin claims that it will be able to cut rolling resistance of its tyres by 50 per cent by 2030.
