Ferrari 458 Italia vs McLaren MP4-12C

In the latest episode of Fifth Gear, Tiff Needell and Jason Plato play around with two of the latest supercars, the McLaren MP4-12C and the Ferrari 458 Italia. Tiff and Jason compare the MP4-12C and the 458 Italia on the track, putting them through various tests, and they even run into some trouble with the McLaren. You won't reveal you the details. We'll just say they've discovered a very fast, and expensive lawn mower.

The McLaren MP4-12C is powered by a 3.8 liter V8 engine, which sends 600 PS and 600 Nm of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed SSG Seamless Shift dual-clutch gearbox. With a top speed of over 200mph, the MP4-12C is able to get from 0 to 200 km/h in less than 10 seconds.

The Ferrari 458 Italia has much larger, 5.0-liter V8 engine, but it has a similar power output. It's rated at 570 hp and 540 Nm of torque. with a 0 to 62 mph sprint time of 3.4 seconds, the 458 Italia is able to get to a maximum speed of 325 km/h.
