Scottish motor racing entrepreneur Tom Walkinshaw has bought Elfin Sports Cars and is set to rejuvenate the famous sports-car maker and its dramatic V8 models. Elfin is the country's oldest racing car and sports-car manufacturer and will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2007.
The company, founded by the late Garrie Cooper in South Australia, will be incorporated into Mr Walkinshaw's Australian group, which includes the HSV hot Commodore business and the touring car-racing operations of HRT and Toll HSV.
HSV has been working with the previous Elfin owners for the past eight months and Elfin has now obtained Australian Design Rules (ADR) compliance ratings for the company's two V8 models, the MS8 Streamliner and the more extreme MS8 Clubman.
