AvtoVAZ Car will present the dual-fuel automobile Lada Priora C N G as an advanced direction. The car utilizes both petrol and natural gas as fuel. Since 1999 the company has been working on the utilization of alternative fuels for Lada automobiles in collaboration with leading research and development establishments and companies of Russia. At the moment a pilot batch of Lada Priora C N G is being tested.

For the first time the AvtoVAZ sport Car direction will be represented by a separate exhibition stand. Motor sport fans will have an opportunity to see three automobiles. They are the rally sport car Lada Kalina Super 1600, the concept car Lada Kalina TMS Turbo 4x4 and Lada W T C C.

The rally modification of Lada Kalina Super1600 is based on Lada Kalina hatchback and meets technical requirements of the international class Super 1600. This car is meant for participation in Russia's rally championship, and also European and world rally championships of A6 class.

Lada Kalina TMS Turbo 4 x 4 is a power all-wheel-drive version of Lada Kalina, which engine develops power up to 180 hp.

Lastly, employees of the Lada automobile plant in Togliatti were threatening to strike, not because of salary cuts or unsafe working conditions, but because the company decided to cut its financial support for the Lada Togliatti hockey franchise by 50 per cent. This sounded like a really interesting story, even though it was a tiny item buried at the bottom of a briefing. When I looked into it further, however, I was unable to find any news at all about a threatened strike. The cuts to the team's budget were well-publicized, even in some English-language press, but nowhere was there even a hint that anyone had threatened to strike.



MOSCOW - August 26, 2008: OAO AvtoVAZ is going to take part in the Moscow International Automobile Salon from August 26th through September 7th, 2008. The exhibition stand of Russia's biggest car manufacturer will demonstrate thirteen Lada automobiles, bother serial models and advanced designs. The sport car line will be presented as the separate Lada Sport stand for the first time.



The conceptual model – Lada C-Cross, a C-class crossover, will become the key exhibit of the AvtoVAZ exposition. The stylish design of the concept car meets global trends of this automobile class. Lada C-Cross marries advanced features of a town car and off-roader.



A futuristic concept car designed for the Russian competition of students' works. “The future of Lada automobile” will occupy a special place at the exhibition stand. These and term papers of students studying at universities' industrial design departments participated in the competition. The winner was a project chosen from over seventy works by jury. On the basis of this project the AvtoVAZ car design division produced a full-scale model. The four-seat all-wheel-drive crossover is notable for original design of its exterior and interior.



Lada Kalina and Lada Priora, which have already gained popularity on the Russian car market, will be presented by AvtoVAZ as serial models. The company will show the whole Lada Kalina line – sedan, hatchback and estate car of “lux” version equipped with 1.4 liter engines. Lada Kalina Sport 1.6-liter engine will join the “collection” of the serial Lada Kalinas. Low-scale production of these “loaded” automobiles is planned to be launched by the AvtoVAZ experimental and industrial division. The model was designed for fans of active driving style. The Lada Priora line will be represented by sedan and hatchback “lux” configuration.
