Opel Astra photos

Amongst the different cars that foreign automobile manufacturers have managed to bring to India is the Opel Astra. This is a car developed by General Motors, a company that has enjoyed success in the US for quite some time. Given the market conditions of the India it was only a matter of time that the company brought its products to this side of the world in search of better markets. The Opel Astra boasts German engineering at its best. The long time symbol of pride is now widely available in India as a member of the luxury car market segment.

One thing that was strikingly different about the Opel Astra was the fact that it used a single point fuel system. This was because most of the other car makers had discarded this form of fuel injection quite some time ago.
The engine of the Opel Astra was much better than a carburetor version but it was still not up to the standard of delivery that a multi point system fuel injection can give. Realizing the need for change the company has enhanced the car and it now sports a 1.6 liter multi point fuel injection engine. This powerful engine can easily generate around 94.5 bhp which is a long way from where the car previously was.
While we can’t say anything about the shape of the three-door model yet, going by the spy photos, the five-door version will again get the current model’s sloping roof line plus the trapezoidal-shaped c-post.
Look at the first official photos of all-new Opel / Vauxhall Astra. The new Opel’s five-door hatch will make its debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September. Opel also plans to develope the Astra’s GTC version and Estate.
As a result of this enhancement the car has been swiped of the shelves as it were. With the new engine the car can touch 80Kmph within a matter of 10 seconds. To further enhance the driving pleasure of the Opel Astra the company has integrated a soft response clutch into the car. Because of this clutch you will not be straining your self with regular press and release of the clutch as is the requirements in busy city streets. The power steering also accentuates the comfort of driving the Opel Astra.

The 2010 Opel Astra will be available with diesel and gasoline units including GM’s an all-new 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine that will be offered with outputs ranging from 120 hp to 140 hp.

The 2010 Opel Astra will arrive to Opel’s showrooms across Europe by the end of the year, while the GTC coupe and the Estate variants should follow by mid-2010.
